Princess Tilda of Dale (formerly Tilda of Lake-Town) is a character in The Hobbit. She is the youngest daughter of Bard and the younger sister of Bain and Sigrid.

During the quest of Erebor, she and her family helped the dwarves in Lake-town

History[]

Background[]

Tilda was born in Lake-town to Bard and his wife. It is unknown when her mother died. However, her older sister, Sigrid, assumes mother role for her younger siblings. Sigrid and Tilda stayed home and Sigrid formed a maternal figure towards her younger sister.

In the fall of 2941, her father smuggled a group of thirteen dwarves and their hobbit freind and companion. When the dwarves came through the toilet, Sigrid wonered why they went throught he toilet while Tilda asked if they'd bring them luck. She later offers Bilbo a blue coat-robe.

Tilda also tried to help the dwarves when four of fourteen of Thorin's company saught her father, Bard since no one else in Laketown would help them.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies[]

Tilda, her sister, brother, Tauriel and Thorin's company escape from Lake-town as Smaug attacks their town. However, Bain runs out to help their father when they spot him climbing up the belltower. On the shores of the lake, Sigrid and Tilda are reunited with their father and brother. They are reunited with their father and brother on the shores and go to Dale, where Thranduil offers his services.

During the siege of Dale, Bain, Sigrid and Tilda run amongst the panicking citizens. They are nearly attacked by a Troll until Bard comes along, first ramming a wheel-barrow before using his sword to finish off the creature. Though their father wishes for them to hide in the Great Hall, Tilda wants to remain with Bard, but they ultimately go hide with the other wounded, women and children

She is last seen at the memorial for those who died during the battle.
