Dáin I is a minor character, with his name only mentioned on a Tapestry in Lake-town in The Desolation of Smaug.
History
Dáin I was born TA 2440 and lived in the Grey Mountains, having three son, one of them being Thorin's and Dáin Ironfoot's grandfather, Thrór, and Grór and their brother, Frór. Dáin ruled his people while at war with the Cold-drakes from theNorth. Later, he and his son, Fror were killed by a Cold-drake that invaded their kingdom.
